Georgia Journals is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. How We Use Your Personal Information
- Provide, Tailor, and Improve the Services. You can read more about the way Shopify collects information as part of the 'Shopify Network Intelligence' here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/upcoming-terms - this is enabled on my (Georgia Journals) shop for now as it allows me to access tools such as mailing list emails. I may disable this feature in future.
- Marketing and Advertising. I currently only intend to send you emails to notify of the shop reopening when I do a shop update. I do not intend to send you SMS messages or badger you with advertising emails. You are free to unsubscribe from receiving emails from me at any time.
- Security and Fraud Prevention. We use your personal information to authenticate your account, to provide a secure payment and shopping experience, detect, investigate or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, unsafe, or malicious activity, protect public safety, and to secure our services. If you choose to use the Services and register an account, you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We highly recommend that you do not share your username, password or other access details with anyone else.
- Communicating with You. We use your personal information to provide you with customer support, to be responsive to you, to provide effective services to you and to maintain our business relationship with you.
- Legal Reasons. We use your personal information to comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including requests from law enforcement or government agencies, to investigate or participate in civil discovery, potential or actual litigation, or other adversarial legal proceedings, and to enforce or investigate potential violations of our terms or policies.

- Sharing with Shopify, vendors and other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g. IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment and shipping).

Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve the Services for you. Information you submit to the Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify as well as third parties that may be located in countries other than where you reside, in order to provide and improve the Services for you. In addition, to help protect, grow, and improve our business, we use certain Shopify enhanced features that incorporate data and information obtained from your interactions with our Store, along with other merchants and with Shopify. To provide these enhanced features, Shopify may make use of personal information collected about your interactions with our store, along with other merchants, and with Shopify. In these circumstances, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including for responding to your requests to exercise your rights over use of your personal information for these purposes. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We may need to verify your identity before we can process your requests, as permitted or required under applicable law. Before accepting such a request from an agent, we will require that the agent provide proof you have authorized them to act on your behalf, and we may need you to verify your identity directly with us. We will respond to your request in a timely manner as required under applicable law.
Retention of Data
- You have the right to request data erasure, as outlined below.
- If you subscribe to a mailing service, such as being notified of shop updates, your email will be kept indefinitely in order to fulfil this service. You are welcome to unsubscribe at any time.
- Personal information such as address will only be used for the purposes outlined in this policy, those specified by Shopify itself, or to fulfil shipping requirements. I will never disclose or sell your personal data to any additional party.
- If the shop closes down, I will destroy digital and physical personal data relating to customers within 90 days of this occurrence, as is also upheld by Shopify.
Please note: I currently do not have a specified retention period for orders and attempted orders, due to the shop just having opened. I intend to keep data for tax purposes and in case of a problem with an order for the time being, but please refer back to this privacy policy later for specified retention times and a protocol of data anonymisation/erasure. Once again you are within your right to request data erasure.
Complaints
If you have complaints about how we process your personal information, please contact us using the contact details provided below. My intention is to protect your customer data as much as I (Georgia Journals) possibly can, to ensure your data is stored securely and to help you if you choose to request data erasure. Please note: any data erasure may take time to process on Spotify's end, and I will let you know how long this currently takes when we communicate.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to appeal our decision by contacting us using the contact details set out below, or lodge your complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Transfers
Please note that we may transfer, store and process your personal information outside the country you live in.
